Afghanistan International University (AIOU) and Malaysia’s Asia e University met to review and develop the six-month programme under their cooperation agreement. Participants included AIOU President Abdul Rahim Asadi; Professor Dr Hamidullah Mufid, AIOA Vice President for Public Relations and International Affairs; Professor Dr Abdul Razzaq Luqman, member of the OIC’s body of jurists and an AIOA trustee; Dr Razia Joya, AIOU Director of Cooperation Agreements and senior international adviser; and members of Asia e University’s leadership. The parties reviewed the agreement and jointly approved its first six-month implementation programme. The agreement aims to expand academic, educational, research and international cooperation. It covers the development of bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes; joint research projects; short in-person and online courses; scholarships for faculty and outstanding students; academic visits for teachers and researchers; and a university representative office in Malaysia. The meeting emphasized implementation, agreed priorities and a clear process for following up joint programmes. The parties agreed to deliver the first six months of activities according to the timetable and in coordination with both universities. AIOU and Asia e University also plan to hold an international academic conference in Malaysia in the near future, with 134 institutions and universities from different countries. The event is intended to strengthen international academic cooperation, share experience and establish joint networks among higher education institutions. This partnership opens new prospects for academic relations between Afghanistan and Malaysia and for educational, research and international programmes across the region and beyond.
